Roma VF is an excellent old heirloom tomato, from Italy that is used for sauce or canning (I love eating them fresh out of the garden too). They have very firm and meaty, three-inch, pear-shaped fruit with very few seeds. Very productive! Expect to harvest up to 175 tomatoes per plant. Roma is a determinate tomato with compact vines.
