This 19th century Parisian favorite is sweet and petite! A fun snack size, it has shallow roots and grows well in heavy soils, in a bed that isn’t tilled very deep, and containers. Plant the seeds close together, so you can pull them out in bunches and harvest at the mature 1 1/2 inch size. Although the name, Tonda di Parigi is Italian. It actually means, ‘'round from Paris'’. Although carrots “prefer cool soils to begin life and warm soils to finish, you can grow both a spring and fall crop. Carrots will germinate in soils as cool as 45 degrees, and in the fall they can still be dug from the garden and eaten until the ground freezes. One of our personal favorites!
