We believe that this Classic Roman variety with bronze-streaked foliage and sweet, flavorful purple-tinged buds is one of the most attractive artichokes in the world!  They are ideal for Mediterranean  or just cooked in the oven or boiled and served with any meal. Protect crowns in winter in zones 3-6 and they will be a perennial plant.  Plant 3 feet apart in rows 3 feet apart in full sun. Harvest before flowers start to open. In October, cut back to 8-10″ from ground and mulch with straw or leaves. Uncover in April.  These plants are much easier to grow than most people think and you get one of the prettiest flowers on the planet!
