In 1863 Fearing Burr, Jr. described 12 varieties suitable for the garden, and Nutmeg was ranked as one of "the very best." They produce high yields of melons that weigh 2 to 3 pounds, are very reliable, year after year. They have a wonderful aroma, and a sweet flavor that is described as having a unique spiciness.  It is one of our personal favorites!
