Detroit Red is one of the oldest and most used beets in the world. The feature perfectly round beets that are 3 inches across. They are dark red and have an extremely sweet flesh. The tops are medium size.
Baby beets make excellent eating, and harvesting them helps the remaining beets grow better. Here is a great growing hint. When planting, mix beet seeds with fast-sprouting radish seeds to mark the rows. 69 days to harvest. For a wonderful new way to enjoy fresh beets try them sauted with a few onions, butter and garlic! OUTSTANDING!

I've never grown beets before, but the seeds sprouted fast, and they're outside soaking up the sunshine. Looking forward to some great beets!
