Released in the early 1950s by the USDA Southeastern Vegetable Breeding Lab, Charleston, S.C.Garrisonian has a light green skin with contrasting emerald green "rattlesnake" markings. The rose colored flesh is sweet and sumptuous. These great tasting watermelons average 30 pounds and are a great choice for Southern and Eastern states and they are an old-time Southern favorite. Their tough rind makes them perfect as 'shippers'. They show good resistance to Fusarium and Anthracous! It seems like each year these seeds are getting harder to find.
